Connecting Rod

A connecting rod is a component in an internal combustion engine that connects the piston to the crankshaft. Its primary purpose is to convert the reciprocating motion of the piston into rotational motion, thereby transferring the force generated by the combustion process to the crankshaft. It has a large eye at one end, which houses the piston pin. The other end has a smaller eye or bore that connects to the crankshaft journal.

Attributes:
Ability to withstand high forces and vibrations.
Withstand the heat and stresses during engine operation.
Designed to optimize engine efficiency and power output.

Applications:
A connecting rod is used to transmit the linear motion of the piston into the rotational motion needed to drive the crankshaft, ultimately powering the vehicle. It is extensively used across a wide variety of Cat® equipment and machines.
